Professional biography

Belinda has extensive experience in the area of learning and teaching and social inclusion and has successfully managed large ALTC/OLT and other strategic learning and teaching and social inclusion projects in a number of professional faculties including Nursing, Business and Informatics, Health Sciences and currently Education and Social Work. In addition, she has been successful in obtaining internal e-learning grants, large quality improvement grants for learning and teaching and widening participation grants.  She has worked with academic staff on major curriculum reviews, accreditations and other projects to enhance curriculum and the student experience. These projects have included: enhancing student understanding of Indigenous perspectives, internationalisation, research and interprofessional learning; the first year experience and transition; and Indigenous student outreach.

Current Projects:

PhD Thesis (in progress, working title): An examination of Australian higher education policy and social inclusion

OLT Grant (in progress): The contribution of becoming reflective on the employability of teachers and social workers. (2016-2018). (Fran Waugh, Robyn Ewing, Belinda Chambers, Josephine Fleming, external partners).

Cultural Competence Measurement and Assessment Project (in progress):  Designing a universal rubric on cultural competence to assist academic staff in their choice and design of learning activities and assessment. (Lead on Working Party) 

Embedding Graduate Qualities Project (in progress):  Working across the various programs in Education and Social Work to identify opportunities to further develop and embed the university graduate qualities. (Belinda Chambers, Program Directors and other staff)

Authenticity in Assessment Project (in progress):  Project to identify and showcase exemplars of authentic assessment and develop resource site to assist academic staff. (Graham Hendry, Josephine Fleming, Belinda Chambers)

Collaborative development of Faculty contribution to the Winga Mura-Bunga Barrabugu Summer Camps (Years 9/10 and 11/12) and Winter School (Year 12) for Indigenous Students (ongoing).

Recent Projects:

Vertically Integrated Masters in School and Community Education:  Working as part of a team to develop a proposal for a VIM in School and Community Education, combining teacher education and community education priorities in a unique and innovative degree. Masters Thesis: An investigation of the socio-cultural experience of first-in-family students in an Australian research-intensive university.
