Professional biography

Brian has taught English as a second language in Australia, New Zealand, and Italy and has published extensively internationally in peer-reviewed journals. His current projects include two books:

  • Handbook of English for Specific Purposes, edited with Sue Starfield to be published by Wiley-Blackwell
  • Discourse Analysis (second edition) to be published by Continuum.

He has taught postgraduate courses in the areas of second-language teaching and learning, language curriculum design and methodology, language testing, research methods, discourse and pragmatics, language for specific purposes, second-language acquisition, writing for publication and thesis and dissertation writing.
