Research project description
Jane Moore has a Master of Creative Arts and Master of Education from the University of Wollongong. She began her professional career as a practising artist and musician and has exhibited her visual artwork in a variety of community and commercial galleries in Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong and Darwin.
Jane has worked in community cultural development and cultural planning at a local-council and has experience working as an artist-in-resicence in a variety of community settings. She has coordinated creative arts programs for street kids and adults, as well as for children with disabilities. Jane has taught art, music and drama in primary and high schools and has worked in a number of disadvantaged school settings. She has experience working within Aboriginal communities as an artist and a teacher and is passionate about progressing reconciliation in schools.
Jane is studying a PhD program with the faculty. Her thesis is titled Reconciliation through music. A study of reconciliation in two schools. Her supervisors are Dr Nigel Bagnall and Professor Robyn Ewing.
Since August 2008 Jane has been employed as research academic on the Embedding Diversity: Towards a Culturally Inclusive Pedagogy project. She is committed to her work embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in the faculty culture.
