Professional biography

Mrs Robert-Smith began her teaching career as a teacher of French and Indonesian, having studied at the University of Sydney. She subsequently held positions as Head Teacher Languages at North Sydney Girls’ High School, Deputy Principal at Willoughby Girls’ High School and was Principal at North Sydney Girls’ High School from 1997 to 2005. She is currently Headmistress at Ascham School, Edgecliff.

Mrs Robert-Smith has been active in professional associations for languages and educational leadership. She completed her Master of Education at the University of Sydney focusing on Gifted and Talented Education, Student Welfare and School Administration.

In 2007 she was appointed by Austcare as it’s first Ambassador for Indonesia. Austcare is now Action Aid Australia, and she is now Ambassador for Education for that organization.

She joined Austcare as their Ambassador for Indonesia in 2006. Austcare is now Action Aid Australia, and She is now Ambassador for Education for that organization.

Married to Dr Geoffrey Robert-Smith a general practitioner in Chatswood, she has a son,

Michael,now 30. Michael went to Sydney Grammar School and graduated with first class honours in his

Arts/Law degree from the University of Sydney in 2003. He is currently working as a lawyer with the Linklaters law practice in London.

Her interests include theatre and cinema, she is an avid reader of both fiction and non fiction and addicted to keeping up with current affairs and social issues. Travel is also a passion. In recent years she has traveled twice  to Russia, to China both privately and with a NSW Department of Education Principals’ delegation, Italy numerous times with friends and family and led four Cultural Tours with students from North Sydney Girls’ and North Sydney Boys’ to Italy, France, England Austria and Germany, and an Art Tour to New York with Ascham students. She has also travelled in Indonesia, India, Europe and the United States and lived for a short time in England.
